Day 8: Cleaning up old Habits
Last week I posted about having an office space to call my own. Now that I have the perfect desk to match, the time was ripe to move it all in. But first, I had to do some, ahem, spring cleaning.
I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t always kept my things in the neatest order. Sometimes I let things pile up, but mostly I’m just looking for a quick fix. I admire those who keep a strict regimen, and who continuously adhere to it. So with an industrious mind frame I set about righting my wrongs, undoing what had been done, cleaning up my mistakes.
In the span of about 40 minutes I cleaned out an entire small shelving unit, decided what to keep, what to toss and what to put in storage and felt a great sense of accomplishment. And I should preface this whole discussion by saying that yes, I buy into Feng Shui and no I don’t think its fruity. I own a book on “10-Minute Clutter Control: Easy Feng Shui Tips for Getting Organized”, and if that is what it takes to get me organized, than hell, I’m going for it.

By arranging items in a space according to a bagua chart, you correlate corresponding neatness to different areas of your life. The assumption is that you can bring good energy into a space and also into your life.
And why not? 2012 seems to be the year where people are opening their minds to new possibilities. If a little placement therapy can help the energy in this space, than I’m all for it. I want the conditions to be just right when I do my best work for my business, so doesn’t it make sense to adhere to my own exacting standards?
If for nothing else, then at least I feel a greater sense of calm knowing that I don’t have some spooky old drawers filled to the brim with old crap anymore. I can let out a sigh of relief. *ahhh*

PS. Do you like my money tree? It’s in the Wealth area of my office lol.
